Q is for...Quince Bakery and Cafe

A little over a year ago, a friend and I were sitting at a fundraiser auction and looking through the bill of sale.  In a moment of inspiration, we decided to purchase a cooking class for 10 and invite a few other friends and our mother's for a mother's day celebration.  The cooking class was put on by Quince Bakery and Cafe, a local cafe that serves up food you don't necessarily expect on the square of Kidron, but oh so yummy.

After our successful bidding, we invited our friends and they invited their mothers and, when the evening came, we all gathered in mom's kitchen for a fun evening together and wonderful food.

A strawberry boursin salad with a balsamic reduction drizzled over top.

Enjoying our time together.
Sautéing the bacon chunks for the double pork canapés.
Double Pork Canapés with roasted grapes.
Cheesecakes topped with a infused honey.

Mother's Day is coming up again in a less than a month...I don't think I will be able to top last year's celebration....I know my mom enjoyed it, just this past weekend I was at her house and she served some red onions soaked in seasoned rice vinegar, one of the recipes we learned that evening.

  1. What a fun thing to do with your mom and friends! The food looked delicious too!

  2. What a great thing to do for mother's day. The food looks delicious.

    Weekends in Maine

    1. To date, I have never had anything bad at the Quince, so if you ever make it to Ohio you will have to try it out, if not, try some of their seasoned red onions - it is very easy, just soak thinly slice red onion in seasoned rice vinegar for a day and then enjoy in salads or on a sandwich, very tasty.
